Your Responsibilities and Tasks

You will be part of a working group that addresses issues related to shelters. The group works, among other things, on the development of technical support, knowledge exchange/building with other authorities, and final inspections of newly built shelters.

You will participate in work related to construction issues connected to existing shelters, renovation projects, and replacement shelters. You will also continuously work on technical development within the shelter system.

Your role includes providing technical support and guidance on shelter issues both internally and to the construction industry, property owners, shelter experts, and other authorities.

Your Knowledge and Competencies

We are looking for someone who has:

• A university degree focused on building technology and construction or other experience deemed equivalent by the employer.
• Several years of experience managing your own projects.
• A valid B driver's license.

It is advantageous if you have:

• Good knowledge of the laws and regulations governing the construction industry and community building.
• Experience with projects concerning qualified constructions, focusing on reinforced concrete structures.
• Experience working in public administration.
• A certificate as a qualified shelter expert.

About the Employment

We offer you a permanent full-time position that begins with a probationary period.

Your work location will be Karlstad or Stockholm, and the job involves travel.

The majority of our positions require placement in a security class. Typically, Swedish citizenship is required. When placed in a security class, a security review with a background check will be conducted before employment according to Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act. Most employees at the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency are designated for military service.

About Us

The position is located in the shelter unit. The unit's task is to meet the population's need for protection during war through access to shelters. This includes control and supervision of shelters, guidance to relevant actors for designing, equipping, and utilizing shelters.

In Sweden, there are over 64,000 shelters with approximately seven million shelter places. These shelters are spread throughout the usual buildings and are used in peacetime by respective property owners as regular premises.

We face a changed threat landscape, new demographic conditions, and a new view of civil defense. This means that the agency is in the middle of a comprehensive change process where shelter operations are integrated with other work regarding civil defense and population protection, which means that the tasks of the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency and the unit may be further developed and shift focus over time.
